Why is my air conditioner so loud?

Does your air conditioner unit make odd noises when you turn it on? Is there a loud clanging sound or a low rumble? Does something simply sound off about your unit? Well, there are so many different reasons your air conditioner is making these sounds. Ultimately, if your unit is making any kind of unusual noises, it will require some level of attention.

Why does my air conditioner make noises when it starts running?

There are many reasons your unit may start making strange sounds when you turn it on. Some issues to consider are issues with the ducts inside your home. They may have been contracting and expanding due to the pressure caused by the weather.  Another very likely option is an issue with the compressor motor.  Any loud or unusual sound could be the result of HVAC damage.

How to make an air conditioner quieter

To put it plainly, to make your air conditioner quieter, you’ll likely need to fix the issue or replace the unit all together. Without a professional to check out the unit for you, it is hard to say what you’ll need to do in order to fix the problem. The HVAC system can last a very long time with the proper maintenance and routine services. While there may not be any immediate cause for concern of some of these issues, it is best to have the problem looked at before it gets any worse. The longer a problem goes unattended, the more damage it could be doing to your system. It’s better to be safe than sorry and have someone come out and take a look at it to asses the urgency of the situation.
